Terms & Conditions
The terms that apply to sessions, classes and use of this website.
About these terms
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the services provided by Irene Lähde – Stress, Sleep & Wellbeing (“we”, “our”, “us”, “the practice”) and to your use of this website. By booking a session, attending a class, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms.
We are a wellbeing practice based in The Hague, serving clients there and online. Our work focuses on stress, sleep and overall wellbeing, using methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), breathwork and yoga.
The services we provide
- Our services are wellbeing and educational/therapeutic services, not medical treatment. They are not a diagnostic or medical service, and they are not a substitute for care from your doctor or another medical professional.
- We do not provide emergency or crisis support. If you are in crisis or need urgent help, please contact your doctor or the emergency services (112 in the Netherlands).
- Services are provided by a qualified practitioner following professional ethical standards and applicable Dutch law, with appropriate professional boundaries maintained at all times.
Who can book
- Individual sessions and classes are for adults aged 18 or over.
- For individual work, an initial consultation helps us understand your needs. Please share any relevant health information honestly, as it helps us support you safely.
- If we feel another service would suit you better, we may recommend a referral rather than continuing.
Booking your session
- Individual sessions can be arranged through our contact form, by email, or via a free 15-minute consultation. There is no online booking system; we confirm your appointment directly with you. Confirming a booking means you accept these Terms.
- Please give accurate contact details. We may send a reminder, but attending remains your responsibility.
- Studio classes at our partner studios are booked, paid for and cancelled through the studio (for example, Inner Embassy), under that studio’s own booking and cancellation rules. The terms on this page apply to your individual sessions with the practice.
Fees and payment
- Current rates for individual sessions are shown on the Individual Sessions page and confirmed when you book.
- Payment is arranged directly with the practice – this website does not take payments – and is due at the time of your session unless we agree otherwise.
- A sliding scale is available for those who need it; just ask.
- We work as an independent practitioner outside the Dutch insurance system, so sessions are not billed to your insurer. We can provide a receipt if you wish to seek reimbursement, but cover and any claim are your responsibility, and we are not responsible for claims that are declined.
Cancellations, rescheduling and missed sessions
- Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an individual session.
- Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, and missed sessions (no-shows), may be charged in full. Genuine emergencies are considered on a case-by-case basis.
- If we ever have to cancel a session, we will give you as much notice as possible and offer you a new time or a full refund for that session.
- Cancellation of studio classes is handled by the partner studio under its own policy.
Your responsibilities
- Take part actively and complete any agreed between-session practices.
- Tell us about relevant health conditions or medication, and let us know of any discomfort during breathwork or movement so we can adapt.
- Treat the practitioner and any other participants with respect, and arrive on time.
- Do not record sessions without our explicit written consent.
Confidentiality
What you share with us is treated as confidential. How we handle your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy. Confidentiality has limits required by law or safety – for example, a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, a legal obligation or court order, or anonymised professional supervision.
Please note that email and text messages are not fully secure, and we cannot guarantee an immediate reply. For anything urgent, contact your doctor or the emergency services.
Online sessions
- You are responsible for your own internet connection and device. We are not liable for technical problems at your end, and a session may need to be paused or rescheduled if the connection is too poor to continue.
- Online sessions take place over a secure, GDPR-compliant video platform. Sessions may not be recorded.
Intellectual property
Any materials, exercises and handouts we share remain our intellectual property and are provided for your personal use only. Please do not copy, record or redistribute them without our written permission.
No guarantees, and limits on our liability
- We bring evidence-based methods and our full professional care, but we cannot guarantee a specific outcome – results depend on many factors, including your own engagement.
- Our services are not a substitute for medical treatment, and you remain responsible for decisions you make based on our work together.
- As far as the law allows, our liability is limited to the fees you paid for the service concerned, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as travel costs or time off work), nor for events beyond our reasonable control.
Ending our work together
You may stop using our services at any time; where helpful, we suggest a final session to round things off. We may decline or end services where, for example, fees are unpaid, behaviour is inappropriate, or the service is no longer suitable for your needs – and we will suggest an appropriate referral where we can.
Complaints and disputes
If something isn’t right, please tell us first – the quickest route is usually to raise it directly. You are also welcome to make a formal complaint in writing to info@irenelahde.com, and we aim to respond within 10 business days. These Terms are governed by Dutch law, and any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of The Hague.
Events beyond our control
We are not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control – for example, illness, severe weather, utility or internet outages, or government restrictions. We will offer to reschedule where we can.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always the one published here, with the date shown below. Significant changes will be made clear, and continuing to use our services means you accept the updated Terms.
If part of these terms cannot apply
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect.
The whole agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any treatment agreement we make with you, form the whole agreement between you and the practice.
Language
These Terms are available in English, with a Dutch version on request. If there is any discrepancy between versions, the English version prevails unless Dutch law requires otherwise. Algemene voorwaarden op aanvraag in het Nederlands beschikbaar.
